I read the official page twice and I am still missing whatever the UI is implying.
Closed testing is invited emails or groups. Open testing is anyone with the link, still not the public listing. Keep production separate and promote a tested artifact forward instead of rebuilding for each track when you can.
Adding a shorter version: do the checklist in the accepted answer, then wait 15–30 minutes before retrying. Most “it still failed” reports I see are immediate retries.
