I shipped a habit tracker with versionName 2.4.1 but Play still says versionCode must be higher. Gradle flavors might be the culprit.
I already screenshotted the error and the account email so I am not going from memory.
Play compares versionCode, not versionName. Set versionCode in the flavor that actually builds the upload, clean rebuild, and check Bundle Explorer. Internal testing counts — a forgotten internal build with a higher code will block production.
If you are stuck after the accepted steps, collect the exact error text and timestamp before you contact support. Vague tickets bounce.
